Wandering Waves is the solo exhibition in China by London-based Chinese artist Ash Xu (Chuwen Xu), whose interdisciplinary practice spans interactive installation, BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) art, speculative art, and digital media. This exhibition presents a constellation of works that explore the entanglement of human cognition, technological systems, and cultural identity, articulated through immersive environments and generative media.
The solo exhibition offers a sensory and intellectual journey into a world where cognition is visible, participation is essential, and boundaries are porous. It invites the viewer into a liminal space where art is not only observed but experienced as a reciprocal flow between mind and machine, tradition and innovation, the personal and the planetary.
As with the Wandering Waves, so does our understanding of what it means to create, perceive, and connect in a world of accelerating hybridity.

Liu Yang's works focus on "exploring the wisdom of modern ecological symbiosis", which contains not only a beautiful vision for the future, but also full of reflections on anthropocentrism - humans are not the dominant rulers of the earth, all things are the masters of the earth, and each of us is just a form of life on the earth, jointly depending on the resources and destiny of this planet. At the moment, leaving the earth is not the answer, but a mirror, reflecting the profound connection between the earth and humans that has been ignored, forgotten, but never disappeared.
Can we really leave this land next week?

This is not just an exhibition of artworks, but also a warning about nature. By virtue of the artists' profound perception of things, we hope to capture the subtle tremors of the precise mechanism of ecological balance.
Each exhibit is a direct observation of things. The artists act as messengers, conveying the voice of nature. This is an attempt to awaken our numb senses and regain empathy with all things. This is an invitation for you to regain the most acute observation of the essence of things after being immersed in art.

This exhibition brings together many outstanding young digital video artists. As witnesses and explorers of this era, their works not only reflect the innovation and exploration of video language, but also showcase the contemplation on the relationships between technology and culture, the individual and the collective, as well as history and the future. Therefore, this exhibition is not merely a concentrated presentation of video art, but also an opportunity for the collision of ideas and academic exchanges.

The interwoven movement of metal and wood grain is like the mutual reflection of day and night, light and darkness. Copper, with its cold edge, bears the oxidation of time. Wood, with its warm texture, carves the patterns of nature. With each brushstroke and chisel strike, when the tip touches the copperplate, the lines grow like a song in the wind; when the burin passes over the wooden board, it leaves traces of light and shadow. Colors dance on the copperplate, and black and white murmur in the woodblock. The virtual and the real, the firm and the soft, all resonate here to form a harmonious composition. At this moment, please slow down your pace, listen to the resonance of copper and wood, and explore another form of life. This is a dialogue between materials and the soul, and even more, a poem between the artist's hands and nature. Welcome to the "Symphony of Copper and Wood" and experience this artistic symphony that transcends materials.

The "cave metaphor" reflects that the real world is not the world that people perceive. Most people are like prisoners of the illusion facing the wall, and the real world is not what is seen. This exhibition is an exploration of the medium with luminous properties, a re-experience of the original perception. By intervening in the ontology's cognition of the world, the artist attempts to guide the viewer to see the world in an artistic way, and to start a dialogue with the light of the outside world. The light is hidden at the edge of existence. The mysterious symbols radiating from the semiconductor box form light waves that stimulate the viewer's thinking. The works depict the silhouette of the seemingly real, revealing the truth hidden behind the illusion. The audience wanders in the reflection of the world shone with light, exploring mysterious and unknown territories. The works in this exhibition, some based on social phenomena, some focusing on visual effects, strive to provoke thinking and resonance on different levels.

The Yi people, also known as the Lolo, are a minority ethnic group from southwestern China, renowned for their rich cultural heritage, unique language, and traditional festivals. The term "Yi" (夷) carries meanings of pacification and subjugation but also reflects the ancient central plains' disdain for distant tribes. Despite the many historical and cultural changes, the geographical and psychological "margins" of the "Yi" maintain a resilient vitality, much like wildfires that regenerate with the spring wind. In the broader context, the mechanical reproduction of the digital age is also devouring the growth of the "Yi," leading to an accumulation of symbols and kitsch. This exhibition boldly steps into the heart of this conflict, using digital means to reflect on the digital age and traditional methods to disrupt traditional conventions. Through a multimedia presentation of Yi culture, the artists immerse the audience in an atmosphere of cultural disarray, revealing the dislocation between cultural appearances and essences. This forms a mirror to mainstream culture, allowing for the retrieval and re-creation of the "Yi" (Aura). This "vacuum preservation" of cultural essence exists here and now, coexisting with you.

Ltd. Hui (晖), meaning the radiance of sunlight that illuminates all things, symbolizes light and brilliance—a theme laden with profound implication in this exhibition. In Chinese culture, landscapes represent spiritual sustenance and the pursuit of transcendence. Hui is akin to the distant mountain’s glow piercing through clouds, guiding viewers to an inward journey of exploration. The exhibition aims to visualize the imagery of Hui through art, inviting reflection on Chinese philosophy and offering wisdom and enlightenment from the interplay of mind and nature. It reflects the artist’s contemplation on the relationships between humanity and nature, society, and the cosmos.

Li Song's paintings do not record superficial phenomena floating on the surface of the world. He begins by retreating to the position of a sober observer, truthfully expressing his inner anxiety and 困顿 (unease) through gentle yet continuous strokes. His perspective is both elevated and grounded, his style both turbulent and steady, full of perplexity yet resolute in stride, gradually reaching a temporarily secure highland with smooth precision.

Zhang Xudong's deep nostalgia for his hometown has taken root in his heart. In recent years, he has turned his gaze to the natural landscape around him, primarily depicting the flowers, plants, and trees near his studio. As a native of Xingcheng, he uses his unique painting language—emotive colors, brushstrokes, and textures—to eulogize nature with childlike enthusiasm. His new body of work embodies reverence for Xingcheng's natural scenery, accumulates artistic thoughts and emotions, serves as a carrier of experience and memory, and offers slices of his exploratory creative process. Beneath the surface, these works reflect the artist's engagement with contemporary society and his reflections on life experiences during creation—elements that define Zhang Xudong's artistic practice and the mission of his oeuvre.

"Carrying Forward Tradition with Ink and Brush, Fragrance of Calligraphy from Fine Couplets." The "2022 Dandong Spring Festival Couplet Calligraphy Masterpieces Exhibition in Provincial Level" successfully kicked off on January 25 at Hall 2 of M56 Art Museum.
As the Spring Festival approaches, M56 Art Museum, in collaboration with the Provincial Calligraphers Association, organized a group of renowned calligraphers from the Liao-Shen region to write "Fu" characters on-site for Shenyang citizens in Hall 2, presenting New Year's Eve gifts and festive blessings.
The exhibition showcases a total of 100 Spring Festival couplet works, including both traditional couplets bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, as well as original masterpieces praising the new era and new life. In terms of both form and content, the works break free from conventions, fully demonstrating the artistic integration of couplets and calligraphy.

Exhibition Preface I have known Zhao Bo for over three years, and our relationship straddles the line between mentor and friend. My deep understanding of his character allows me to resonate profoundly with his works. Zhao Bo's art exudes a strong existentialist style. The signature blue hue in his paintings evokes a sense of profound depth and tranquility. The structure of his works resembles the monologue of an onlooker—unapologetic, yet ineffable. His extensive experience teaching high school art has gradually led Zhao Bo to develop a creative approach that aligns more closely with his inner self. I believe this approach is imbued with hidden emotional nuances. "I seem to have some social anxiety in daily life, but when it comes to professional topics, I can't stop talking..." This is the Zhao Bo I've come to know through our teaching interactions. I consider him acutely perceptive. For him, the process of painting serves as both a means of emotional release and a necessity for self-expression. Through his art, we can sense the emotions he struggles to articulate in words. While his work appears to explore visual forms, it is also laden with his reflections on the world around him. The themes, though seemingly grand in scope, are intricately intertwined with our everyday lives. ——Ji Yunhui

Preface to the Exhibition :The "Allegory of the Cave" suggests that the real world is not what we perceive; most people are prisoners facing the illusions on the cave wall, and the true reality transcends our immediate sight. This exhibition represents artists' exploration of luminous media, offering an experience of primal perception. By intervening in the viewer's understanding of the world, it guides them to see reality through the artists' perspectives, initiating a dialogue with the light of the external world. From the moment the first ray of light reaches beyond the cave, it leads people towards their innermost selves. Light lurks at the edges of existence, and the mysterious symbols radiating from semiconductor devices form light waves that prompt deep reflection. The artworks depict seemingly real contours while unveiling the truth hidden behind illusions. Viewers wander through the reflections of a world bathed in light, venturing into the mysterious and unknown.

From May 9 to May 30, 2021, M56 Art Museum, in collaboration with the Department of Contemporary Art of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, jointly presents the cross-media art exhibition *"Twelvefold Senses"*. The exhibition brings together space, images, scents, sounds, and light into a direct perceptual field for the body, exploring and reflecting from respective practical perspectives. Drawing on their survival experiences and aesthetic cognitions, artists express the most primitive emotional tension in sensory experiences through the unique vitality and perceptibility of "non-material" materials. Using these three types of media as output methods for aesthetic viewpoints, the works intervene in the audience's psychological activities and ways of thinking in a more covert form, awakening the public's memories and emotions.

With a gathering of 100 artists and 365 artworks, it comprehensively showcases the creative achievements of northeast youth printmaking in recent years. Through a systematic review of the northeast youth printmaking art phenomenon, the exhibition aims to further promote printmaking artists, support northeast youth printmaking, and contribute artistic energy to northeast revitalization with a youthful attitude. The exhibited works include four major categories: silk screen printmaking, woodcut printmaking, copperplate printmaking, and lithograph printmaking. From multiple dimensions such as aesthetics, innovation, and modernity, these works demonstrate artists' understanding of printmaking. We can see their unique insights into printmaking, touched by their keen perspectives and innovative thinking. In the future, this exhibition theme will continue to be held, striving to build a special exhibition brand that takes root in Shenyang and expands beyond the Northeast region.

Exhibiting Artists: Xie Yong, Zhang Dan, Li Qiushi, Song Jianan "4+1. Contemporary Art Exhibition" The exhibition features artists including Xie Yong (Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts, Shenyang University), Zhang Dan (Director of the Department of Contemporary Art, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts), Li Qiushi (Associate Professor of the Department of Contemporary Art, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts), and Song Jianan (graduate of the Oil Painting Department, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts). Additionally, a special "art" piece in the exhibition is the TECNAM P2006T (actual aircraft) – a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing airplane. The concept of "four artists + one" symbolizes the integration of art and the era! An aircraft joins four artists in stepping into 2021 together. For contemporary artists, cross-border collaboration with different fields has become a new trend in development. Not only does this process expand creative thinking, but art also progresses through such collisions. By combining 跨界 (cross-disciplinarity), it aims to create a brand-new art collection form, diversify the landscape of contemporary art, and build a fresh communication platform for contemporary art. The works of the four artists are placed within the current ideological framework. Through their concepts and forms, materials and media, gestures and actions, they form an imaginary path, simultaneously exploring different expressions of artistic creation.
